Reframing New Year's Resolutions!

Hey Prosper Fam! 👋 We hope everyone is having a great end to their 2024 and is excited to tackle 2025. With the new year coming around the corner, many are quick to set extreme goals. "Exercise more" and "eat healthy" are great, but they are hard to track and manage. Approximately 80 percent of people who create New Years resolutions end up giving up on them by February. Prosper is here to help you set realistic and manageable goals for the new year as well as guide you through reflecting on 2024. 💛

2024 Reflection ✍️

2024 Reflection Before jumping into new goals and resolutions, it's important to reflect on your past year. Consider answering some journal prompts to help guide reflection:

  • What accomplishments are you proud of this year?

  • What lessons have you learned?

  • What habits helped you the most?

  • Is there anything from 2024 you'd like to leave behind?

Answering these questions can bring clarity and help you set meaningful intentions for the New Year.

Reframing Resolutions🎉 Most of us think of New Years resolutions as strict rules you must follow and if you don't abide by these set rules, you may feel guilty and upset with yourself. Instead, we want to think of these resolutions as positive intentions. These intentions are meant to be flexible and allow for adjustments to create more long-term healthy habits. Instead of saying: "I will exercise everyday" consider saying "I will move my body as much as I can." This shift in mindset will help you create a more healthy approach to your ambitions. Realistic Goal-Setting⏰ In order to set realistic goals for the new year, you're going to want to start small. Creating too big of a list can get overwhelming and many of them won't be achievable.

  1. Start by selecting one or two goals you want to focus on in 2025.

  2. Use the SMART goal framework. Make sure the goal is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. Example: 3 days a week I will practice mindfulness to reduce stress through meditation.

  3. To stay motivated with your goals, always celebrate the small wins! This will help keep you motivated and consistent.
